Box Office Numbers - December 23, 2007
"National Treasure: Book of Secrets" took the box office race this weekend, unseating last week’s winner, "I Am Legend." "Book of Secrets" is the sequel to the 2004’s "National Treasure" starring, Nicolas Cage. I didn’t see the first one so I’m not planning to see the second one (I guess I am among the minority, judging by this weekend’s ticket sales).
Here’s a look at the numbers:
- "National Treasure: Book of Secrets" - $45.5 million
- "I Am Legend" - $34.2 million, (10-day total of $137.5 million)
- "Alvin and the Chipmunks" - $29 million (10-day total of $84.7 million)
- "Charlie Wilson’s War" - $9.6 million
- "Sweeney Todd" - $9.35 million.
- "P.S. I Love You" - $6.5 million
- "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story" - $4.1 million
- "Enchanted" - $4.1 million from
- "The Golden Compass" - $4 million
- "Juno" - $3.4 million
I am a bit surprised by "Charlie Wilson’s War" - it stars Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts!!! Oh well. I didn’t even get out of my pyjamas this weekend so I can’t say much.

The first Nat’l Treasure would have been fun if they hadn’t stolen two major gags from other films. It just bugged me, and although parts of it were funny and entertaining, I couldn’t get over that. I don’t want to know who’s compelled to see #2 in theatres.

I’m surprised Charlie Wilson’s War is only fourth.
