Casting News: Josh Lucas as Captain Pike
Rumor has it that Josh Lucas, start of Poseidon, has been cast to play Captain Christopher Pike in the upcoming Star Trek Original Series prequel movie.
Captain Pike, originally played by Jeffrey Hunter, was slated as the captain of the Starship Enterprise in the rejected original pilot entitled "The Cage". His character made a comeback later in the series in the two-part episode "The Menagerie" as a crippled shell of a man on court martial for his attempt to return to the planet featured in "The Cage."
Of course, really fanatical Star Trek fans know that Captain Pike was in fact the second captain of the USS Enterprise following Robert April who served with Captain James Kirk’s father! Betcha didn’t know that?!? Anyway, best of luck to Josh Lucas and the rest of the "new" crew.
