"Charlie Bartlett" Trailer and Preview
“Charlie Bartlett” is about a boy (Anton Yelchin) who gets expelled from his private school and ends up going to a public school where his fellow students start coming to him for advice. He actually goes to a real psychiatrist and describes some of their problems in order to get prescriptions (which he then passes on to the students who are actually suffering from the problems).
I will admit that the plot is interesting but I felt like I had seen this movie in some form before. Oh, I remember now - “Mumford.” Did anyone see this 1999 film? It’s the one where Loren Dean stars as a man who is on the run and hides in the small town of Mumford where he pretends to be a psychologist. In another weird twist, the mom in “Charlie Bartlett” is none other than Hope Davis who happens to play the love interest in… (say it with me) “Mumford!” Wow. I feel like I’ve solved a crime.
The film also stars Robert Downey Jr. who will next be appearing in “Iron Man.” It hits theaters this Friday, February 22, 2008.
