Daniel Craig Defends "Solace"
If you found yourself scratching your head over the title of the new James Bond film — “Quantum of Solace” — you aren’t alone. Fans have been burning up message boards and forums with their dislike for the complicated title after it was announced just days ago.
But Daniel Craig urges fans not to write off the title so quickly. The 39-year-old Brit and star of the 22nd installment of the super-spy franchise told the World Entertainment News Network, “We could have gone for a snappier title, but that sort of suggests we’re insecure about what we’re trying to say.”
He adds, “The statement is an Ian Fleming statement. It comes from the idea that in a relationship, if you don’t have a quantum of solace left in your relationship, then give up. Where Bond is left at the end of the last movie (2006’s “Casino Royale”), his heart’s been broken and he doesn’t have that quantum of solace, he doesn’t have that … closure on what happened in his life and he needs to find out.”
Ok, you just keep telling yourself that, Daniel.
“Quantum of Solace” was taken from a collection of short stories published by Bond creator Ian Fleming in 1960.
