DreamWorks and Disney Hook Up
It’s official. Steven Spielberg and his partners at DreamWorks Studios have agreed to a distribution deal with Disney: Walt Disney Studios will market six DreamWorks live-action movies a year.
It makes you wonder what goes on behind the scenes, because DreamWorks has sort of been all over the place since it was formed by Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg (former CEO at Disney), and David Geffen in 1994.
Several years later, DreamWorks hooked up with Paramount Pictures and released several smash-hit films, including 2007’s Transformers. But there must have been some feuding going on, because they split up, and DreamWorks hooked up with Universal.
DreamWorks then went on to form a partnership with Reliance, a Bollywood company in India. But Universal pulled out of the deal, leaving DreamWorks to look for $250 million to work with Reliance. Anyway, I think that’s how it goes.
So Disney comes riding in on their white horse (how appropriate), and now DreamWorks and Disney are together. This kind of stuff really makes me glad I don’t own a giant film company. The stress level must be through the roof!

I think that Steven Spielberg, Disney, and DreamWorks are a great line up. I loved the movie A.I., and agreed with the reader written review on EverHype that gave it 3.5 stars and called it “Great.” (Write your own reviews at http://www.everhype.com/?utm_source=bc) I love Pixar, does anyone know if Spielberg will do a film with them? Maybe something in 3D?
