"Elegy" Gets Picked Up
A stellar cast including Penelope Cruz, Ben Kingsley, Dennis Hopper, Patricia Clarkson, Peter Sarsgaard and Deborah Harry are starring in Lakeshore Entertainment’s Elegy, hitting theaters August 8, 2008, after a run in film festivals around the country.
Cruz plays a Cuban student whose professor (Kingsley) attempts to seduce her. An adaptation of Philip Roth’s short novel, The Dying Animal, the drama premiered at this year’s Berlin Film Festival and also at the Tribeca Film Festival this week.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film was acquired by Samuel Goldwyn Films, Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group and Netflix’s Red Envelope Entertainment. It’s rated R for sexuality, nudity and language.
