"Friday the 13th" Remake in the Works
He’s baaaaaccckkkk… that serial killer known as Jason, that is. A “Friday the 13th” remake is in the works, with Jared Padalecki in final negotiations to star.
The original “Friday” was released in 1980, introducing horror icon Jason with a brief appearance. The remake will focus on the serial killer (in his iconic hockey mask, of course). Padalecki will play the lead, who investigates what happened up at Crystal Lake.
The movie, directed by Marcus Nispel and produced by Platinum Dunes for New Line and Paramount — is set to hit theaters on Friday, Feb. 13, 2009. Nice marketing.
You might recognize Padalecki from his role as Sam Winchester on the CW’s Supernatural. His film credits also include “House of Wax” and “Cry Wolf,” and he’ll next appear as Thomas Kinkade alongside Peter O’Toole and Marcia Gay Harden in Lionsgate’s “Home for Christmas,” slated for a December release. The film is based on the life of the artist and his heartwarming painting, “The Christmas Cottage.”
From Thomas Kinkade to Jason in a hockey mask…at least Padalecki is taking some diverse roles!
