Gary’s Rumor Mill: Lara Croft, Ogre Kiddies, Nanny Cameron?

Paramount is reportedly rumbling about making a Tomb Raider 3. They may have approached SCI, the company that owns the rights to the insanely popular video game, for permission to develop the project, and Jolie has not ruled out the possibility that she’ll return as the busty English adventurer. I don’t hold out much hope that this will be a good movie. The second one was bad enough, but I’m a sucker for Lara and am in the midst of trying to conquer the latest Tomb Raider game, so you’d see me in line to see this one if it happens.
- Ogre babies? Indeed. Shrek may be getting into the intricacies of married life with the lovely Fiona in the third movie of the series, set for 2007 some time. Says Adam Adamson:
Shrek is learning about responsibility…He’s also dealing with another responsibility that will be coming his way now that he’s married and has started to settle down. It’s pretty easy to see where we’re going with that.
Arthurian legend fanatics will be horrified to know that the new story weaves in a bit of Camelotian magic. Has Shrek bitten into more than he can chew? Will the ogrelings have their father’s eyes? What is the gestation period for ogres? Questions, questions….
- On an even more terrifying front, Julie Andrews may be teetering on the boundary of senility. When asked who she would chose to play governess Maria in a future remake of the much loved musical The Sound of Music, Andrews responded with a name I didn’t think possible…Cameron Diaz. Huh? Seeing that the two of them lend their voices to Shrek 3, that could account for Diaz being held in such high esteem by the grand dame of cheesy musicals, but my god…The Sound of Music is one of my all time favourites from when I was younger. I have the movie, the soundtrack, know all the words to all the songs, and the thought of Cameron’s skipping around the Von Trapp mansion is just too much to bear.
