Gary’s Trailer Park
Heath Ledger seems a natural to play Casanova, that charming lover boy of Venice. Everything about the movie looks like a humorously tinged historical romance novel, which is pretty much true to form. There’s an extended clip of the movie now available, and though it’s not a movie I would generally be anticipating, it looks like a nice departure from all the super hero/action thrillers that are populating the screens.
Speaking of heroes, the Superman Returns trailer is up and running and looking pretty darn…super. I wasn’t sure about Brandon Routh in the big red tights, but for an unknown, untested actor, he makes Clark Kent look good.
We also can finally have a look at The DaVinci Code. Lay those conspiracy theories to rest and have a peek for yourself. Now here’s a movie that I hope gets done right. It will likely be a tide turner in the industry, and if it does very well, as it should with Tom Hanks and Ron Howard on board, expect to see a million spinoffs and DaVinci Code wannabes.
What do you get when you mix Titantic with Typhoon? You get Poseidon, in which a luxury liner being struck by a wave in the North Atlantic forces unlikely companions to band together and help each other to survive. The trailer for this anticipated Kurt Russell film is now available. Sink or swim? I’m thinking along the lines of a hulking hunk of driftwood.

Funny, I watched the trailer for the Da Vinci Code last Friday ! I was very impressed by Tom Hanks… he made it easy to see Robert Langdon. No small feat, since I generally can’t stand Hanks and will try to avoid any movie he’s in.
Now Audrey Tautou as Sophie, I don’t quite buy. Maybe partly because of rumours that had Sophie Marceau playing the part at first, and thinking she would have been a better choice.
As for the plot itself, I don’t really know what to think yet. But I tried the online Da Vinci Code game and it kicked my butt. Hmph.

I think I would have preferred Sophie Marceau, I’ve always liked her since, sadly enough, Braveheart. Not that I don’t care for Audrey Tautou, she’s a capable actress as well.
