George Clooney and goats? Jeff Bridges in a braid? Yes, in The Men Who Stare at Goats

September 11, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Oh my. I can’t decide if this movie is supposed to be funny or dramatic or real or urban legend. Maybe all of the above.

The Men Who Stare at Goats is based on true events as described in Jon Ronson’s 2004 book by the same name. Ewan McGregor plays a down-on-his-luck reporter who meets a special forces agent (George Clooney), who says that yes, it’s true. There’s actually a secret military unit whose sole purpose is to use paranormal powers for the greater good.

Well, I’ve listened to Art Bell’s show, “Coast to Coast” – now hosted by George Nouri – for years, and I can confirm this fact. Check out this trailer. It really makes me wish the movie was closer than Nov. 6, 2009. Kevin Spacey, Jeff Bridges (in a long braid!), Terry Serpico, and Rebecca Mader also star. My only question is: Were any goats harmed in the making of this film?
