Hi-Def Movies from iTunes?
It’s been leaked around the Internet that Apple’s next version of iTunes software will allow users to download movies and TV shows in high definition. They’re expected to make the announcement on Tuesday.
Ok, that’s cool news, but I’m not sure I’d take advantage of it, unless there’s some way I can get them from my computer to my screener TV in my office.
It’s not that I don’t watch TV while I’m working — sure, I do. But I need my TV shows on a bigger screen than a corner of my computer screen, which is usually filled up with about 7 different browsers, email programs, and desktop gadgets. Right now, I’m watching Entourage. I’m an expert multi-tasker when it comes to blogging and watching TV shows or movies. In fact, I’m often blogging ABOUT whatever it is I happen to be watching.

Meanwhile, last week, Amazon announced the launch of Amazon Video on Demand, which offers 40,000 movies and TV shows for rent (i.e., via streaming) on PCs, Macs and other set-top boxes like the Sony Bravia TV sets and Apple TV. Movies will cost $2.99 or $3.99; TV shows, $1.99. But they can only be viewed during a 24 hour-period after you buy them. That would probably be a problem for me, too.

That way (to get the HD from iTunes store to your TV) would be a wifi (or ethernet) network and an Apple TV.

Thanks for the tip, Bud. I have wifi here, so are Apple TVs horribly expensive? I’m in the market, so maybe that’s the way to go.
