Jeunet’s Life of Pi
Haha! Oh goodness it hurts me. In one of those strange, coincidental moments where everything seems to coalesce into a giant ball of subconscious hooplah, two of my posts on different blogs have merged.
It turns out, according to MovieWeb.com, that Jean-Pierre Jeunet, who has crafted such successful films as Amelie and A Very Long Engagement, has already begun writing the script with long-time collaborator Guillaume Laurant for a big screen adaptation of 2002 Man Booker prize winner Life of Pi. I personally was not fond of this book, despite all of its accolades, and hope that the film will be able to trim down some of what I viewed as unnecessary, while focusing on the sparkling story that lies underneath.
Jeunet took charge of adapting Yann Martel’s novel after M. Night Shyamalan, who was originally pegged for the job, wandered off to do other projects.

Wow, Life of Pi the movie. Doesn’t sound all that compelling. Cast Away with a Tiger? I don’t know about this.

“Castaway with a tiger”! Haha, love it. I don’t have high hopes for this one either. No fault of Jeunet or Martel.
