Michael Keaton Signs for "Toy Story 3"

by Jane Boursaw on August 25th, 2008

Toy Story 3 is in the works, and two new voices have been added to the cast: Barbie (yes, the doll) will be voiced by Jodi Benson, perhaps best known as Ariel in The Little Mermaid. Her boyfriend, Ken, will be voiced by none other than Michael Keaton.

You might recall that Barbie made an appearance in Toy Story 2; however, Ken is new to the series. Yep, I can visualize Michael Keaton as Ken. He also voiced the character of Chick Hicks in 2006’s Cars.

I’m not sure how Barbie and Ken will play into the storyline. In fact, all I know about the movie is what was posted in the Wall Street Journal earlier this year: “Woody and his toy-box friends are dumped in a daycare center after their owner, Andy, leaves for college.” College! I feel old. Then again, it has been 13 years since the first movie premiered. Yowza!

More after the jump…

Toy Story 3 is scheduled for a June 18, 2010 release. It also features the voices of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, John Ratzenberger, Ned Beatty, Wallace Shawn, Don Rickles and Estelle Harris.

In related news, the original Toy Story is being formatted for a 3D release. Not a big fan of 3D, but I can see the potential there.
