New Friday the 13th in the Works … Wait, What?

“Friday the 13th” is still scaring the heck out of us in theaters, but there’s already another movie in the works.
Yes, Jason Voorhees, that serial killer who refuses to die is coming back in yet another installment of the franchise. New Line and Platinum Dunes are moving forward on a new movie, with Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, who wrote the current movie, already hard at work on the new one.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is “expected to be not a sequel so much as a follow-up … Jason Voorhees will be the villain, of course, but the new picture is expected to use elements of the original franchise more as a jumping-off point than as a template.”
Ok, I’m not even sure what that means, but one thing I do know is that Jason is one scary dude. That’s one thing I think we can all agree on.
