New in Theaters: June 13, 2008

by Jane Boursaw on June 12th, 2008

Just in time for Friday the 13th, M. Night Shyamalan’s The Happening hits theaters. Early reviews aren’t all that impressive, but I’ll check it out and report back. And, of course, I’ll be seeing the Big Green Guy, a.k.a. The Incredible Hulk tomorrow, too. Listen to my reviews on BlogTalkRadio Friday night at 8 p.m. EST.

The Happening (wide). Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel make a run for the country when strange things start happening. Gecko Preview & Trailer

The Incredible Hulk (wide). Edward Norton plays the big green guy, fighting the military, led by General Ross (William Hurt), and another gamma-powered foe, the Abomination (Tim Roth). Gecko Preview & Trailer

More after the jump…

My Winnipeg (limited). Darcy Fehr stars in this fictional autobiography of cult-movie director Guy Maddin.

Encounters at the End of the World (limited). Werner Herzog (Grizzly Man) travels to Antarctica to document one of the most remote locations on Earth.

Baghead (limited). Ok, if you were being terrorized by a man with a bag on his head, don’t you think you’d have the upper hand? Not so for four aspiring actors who go on a remote retreat to pen a script.

Quid Pro Quo (limited). Wheelchair-bound Nick Stahl wants to walk again, which makes a strange cult of folks who WANT to be disabled seem that much stranger.

From what I’ve heard, The Happening is about what you’d expect from the declining talents of M. Night. Also, apparently Marky Mark suddenly can’t act anymore? Such a shame.
