Smart People (2008). Lawrence Wetherhold (Dennis Quaid) is a recently widowed literature professor who’s wandering numbly through life until an accident lands him in the hospital. Kiss of the Spider Woman (Collector’s Edition, 1985). This was the first independent film to earn the top four Oscar noms, including Best Picture and Best Director (Hector Babenco). The story follows two men in a Latin American prison cell. Molina (William Hurt) is a delicate homosexual imprisoned for seducing a minor; Valentin (Raul Julia) is a bearded revolutionary still bleeding from his interrogation. Bra Boys (2007). A documentary about the cultural evolution of the Sydney beach side suburb of Maroubra and the social struggles of its youth - the notorious surf gang known as the Bra Boys.
