By Erin Harvey | Related entries in New Rentals, Comedy, Family Fun, Action/Adventure, Science FictionThis week’s your chance to run oout and pick up a 40 Year Old Virgin, and bring him home with you for a couple hours of fun. The wildly popular comedy that made Steve Carrell a household name hit the retails shelves this week. If you don’t find it funny, at least it’ll make you feel a little bit better about your own sex life…I hope.
It just may top the list of movies you wouldn’t want to get stranded with, but The Island is looking to make up for an absolutely dismal showing in theatres by having a strong push into the home market. Ewan McGregor and Scarlet Johansson seek out a brave new world free of the control of ‘the institute’, and take jabs from critics every step of the way.
Fox’s Roll Bounce also takes it to the small screen this week, set in the middle of the 1970’s roller skating frenzy. The closing of their neighbourhood hangout forces some roller-pals to venture into uptown rinks, where the girls are pretty, the joint is classy, and the competition is fierce.
For the kids comes Disney Pictures’ Valiant, about a brave squad of passenger pigeons dedicated to delivering the news and intelligence needed by the Allied troops in World War II. As the pressure mounts, can Valiant and his friends keep up with the demand?
