Batman Begins

It was a big week for fans of the Big Bat, with Batman Begins and Batman Begins (Deluxe Edition) now available to add to your home movie collection.  Regarded as the movie to pump a little life into what has been a bit of a flagging series, Batman Begins tells us all how Bruce Wayne got to be the caped crusader.
 
Also out is the erotically bloody Eternal, a modern day take on the legend of Elizabeth Bathory, a medieval Transylvanian countess who is thought to have slaughtered over 650 women to bathe in their blood (for eternal youth, ya dig?).   One of the best quick synopses I’ve read in a long time was of this movie, by Ron Wilkinson at Monsters And Critics: A desperate cop is in over his head under the spell of a reincarnated lesbian vampire with great hair.  I know that this one is going to be awful, everything I’ve read and seen about it says it will be, but how can a movie about Bathory, who some feel may be the true inspiration behind the Dracula legend (not Vlad the Impaler), fail to intrigue?
 
Just in time for Hallowe’en, horror junkies can stock up on their zombie flicks by grabbing George A. Romero’s Land of the Dead.  The army of the dead is getting a little cranky, as are the live citizens of a new society city ruled by ruthless businessmen.  The dead want in for “Braaaaaaaains”, the live want out for freedom, and you can bet it’ll be messy when they meet up.

* Mad Hot Ballroom - a touching, comedy slanted documentary about, yes, ballroom dancing
* Dot the I - a romantic thriller
* Ma Mere - an acclaimed and warped coming of age story
* Saving Face - mother-daugher role reversals, pregnancy, cultural pressures, gay relationships…all rolled into one
*Tell Them Who You Are - family drama in the Hollywood director biz
