Pellicano Trial: Audio Tapes Suggest Murder

by Jane Boursaw on April 2nd, 2008

Hollywood filmmakers looking for fodder need look no further than the Pellicano Trial taking place in their own backyard. It’s a story of lies, romantic hook-ups, and maybe even murder.

In court on Tuesday, taped audio conversations were played for the jury in the federal wiretapping and racketeering case against former celeb sleuth Anthony Pellicano.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the recordings were made by Pellicano at his Sunset Boulevard office, between he and…

…New York hedge fund manager Adam Sender.

Sender testified that he hired the private eye to investigate producer Aaron Russo (Trading Place), whom he’d loaned $1.1 million to in 1999 to start a film production company and an online holistic medicine business.

Sender testified that he knew Pellicano was wiretapping Russo, who died last year of cancer and never delivered on the investment. “I want to make this guy’s life as miserable as possible,” Sender told Pellicano on the tape.

Sender’s live testimony, however, indicated that Pellicano offered to have Russo murdered, saying, “If I wanted to, I could authorize to have him murdered on the way back from Las Vegas…have someone follow him back, drive him off the road and bury his body somewhere in the desert.”

Also taking the stand Tueday was Keith Carradine’s ex-wife, Sandra Carradine, who hired Pellicano to determine the actor’s wealth in their child custody battle. Sandra pleaded guilty to lying to the grand jury, saying she was trying to protect Pellicano, because they’d had an on-and-off romantic affair for five years.

Lisa Gores later took the stand. Her husband hired Pellicano to see if his wife was cheating on her. She was — with his brother.

Ok, let’s start thing up actors for the movie version. For Pellicano, I vote for James Gandolfini. Too much of a throw-away? Ok, who do you suggest?
