Pellicano Trial to Start This Week
It’s the stuff of a Hollywood movie! Sylvester Stallone, Chris Rock and Garry Shandling have been named as potential witnesses in the trial of disgraced private investigator Anthony Pellicano.
According to a WENN report, these are just a few of the celebs who’ve allegedly had their phones bugged or names illegally checked against police databases in the Pellicano case.
It’s taken six years for the Feds to bring their case to trial, and the spy has pleaded not guilty to federal charges in a 111-count indictment, including charges of conspiracy and police bribery. Apparently, he’s said to have collected info on celebs for his clients to use for threats and/or blackmail. I would not want to be him right now.
The prosecution boasts an impressive list of 127 witnesses; however, Stallone, Rock, Shandling and others may not be summoned to appear in court. The trial is set to begin on Thursday with opening statements in a Los Angeles court. Pellicano, 63, is representing himself against the charges.
Here’s a copy of the witness list at SmokingGun.com, and the L.A Times has a nice little story and storyboard going on the case, as well. Oh, this is going to be fun! Let’s see…how about Jack Nicholson as Pellicano in the movie version…?
