Pine Lake Films: Props to the Little Guy
We like independent film makers here at the Movie Weblog, though my recent budgetary nightmares have pretty much negated my love for running willy nilly all over to see indie flicks. What better then, for a poor schlub like me but to have easily accessible shorts available at the click of a button?
Steven Dempsey, a Dublin boy born, began making films in 2001 with a borrowed camera and no experience. He developed a passion for nature films and on trips with his photographer wife, began recording the beauty around him. Since then he has produced some breathtaking films under his personal studio banner: Pine Lake Films.
They’re all under 5 minutes long, and will treat you to beautiful vistas from natural havens such as Olympic National Park, and Marymoor Park in the Pugeot Sound area. I watched all of them, it being a rainy brooding day here perfect for nature documentaries, and for a guy that does have much professional training, Dempsey is skilled at capturing singular images of nature’s glory and stitching them into a wonderful, fluid film.
