"Rosemary’s Baby" Gets a Remake

by Jane Boursaw on March 3rd, 2008

One of the scariest flicks from my childhood, “Rosemary’s Baby,” is getting a makeover.

Platinum Dunes is in talks with Paramount to update Roman Polanski’s 1968 film starring Mia Farrow, John Cassavetes, Sidney Blackmer and Ruth Gordon, reports ShockTillYouDrop.com.

Industry sources report that producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are currently looking for a writer to pen the screenplay. The story revolves around a young couple living in Manhattan. Shortly after settling into their new apartment, Rosemary becomes pregnant and slowly falls very ill. Paranoia and suspicion of witchcraft at work ensues.

Dunes is also developing new films in the “Friday the 13th” and “Nightmare on Elm Street” franchises. Is anyone else sick of all the remakes? How about some original films? Or do we just have to frequent the film festivals for those? Just askin…

I hear you about remakes. I’m particularly puzzled by the Nightmare on Elm Street one - I just can’t imagine what they’re going to add or improve. Seems to me that series pretty much accomplished what it set out to accomplish, and besides, how many people will accept someone other than Robert Englund as Freddy?

Rosemary’s Baby is a classic. What’s next, The Exorcist?
