Rotten Tomatoes Pelts Worst of 2005
Rotten Tomatoes is one of those sites that I pop by when I want to see what funny things critics had to say about movies I plan on seeing, or have seen in the past. It’s sarcasm packed, often not very nice, but it says the things that everyone else is thinking, but is too shy to voice.
They’ve now put out their “Bombs to the Bomb: Taking a look at 2005’s worst flicks” feature and it’s a doozy. They apparently are not fans of Rob Schneider, and find incest to be a topic that should not be tackled in entertainment media. There seems to be a lot of superhero movies and horror flicks included, and Aeon Flux continues to take a beating both in the cinema and in the press. Ouch.
Their Worst of 2005:
BOMBS TOMATOMETER LIST

Rotten: 16% The Dukes of Hazzard 2005

Rotten: 7% Undiscovered 2005
Rotten: 24% 9 Songs 2005
Rotten: 13% Stealth 2005
Rotten: 24% House of Wax 2005
Rotten: 43% Guess Who 2005

Rotten: 14% Hide and Seek 2005
Rotten: 1% Alone in the Dark 2005
Rotten: 11% Ma Mere 2005
Rotten: 12% Aeon Flux 2005
I’d be happy to take suggestion for additions, or argue over movies that are listed above. Frankly I tend to think they’ve got a pretty good list started up, but there’s always room for more.

Interesting list! I have to admit though that I haven’t seen any of them! That’s probably a good thing. A movie that I did see and thought was truly awful was “Elizabethtown”. The movie is a big disaster - stupid story which wanders all over the place, ridiculous characters, and it plods along at a very slow pace. It’s meant to be a romantic comedy (I think) but it isn’t funny or romantic. I don’t fault the actors - Orlando Bloom and kirsten Dunst - they are good but they have to follow a very stupid script and the character that Kirsten Dunst plays is just plain annoying. The movie is way too long and boring and tedious and stupid. My husband and I kept thinking it would get better. It didn’t. I would give the movie 1/10.

You should probably be very thankful that you haven’t seen them Maureen. And I definitely second your nomination for Elizabethtown. By almost all accounts it was a limp, insipid waste of time. I myself didn’t see it, largely because I really don’t care for Kirsten Dunst, and the kind of sappiness that came across in the previews just isn’t my thing.
