Scarlett Johansson Not Stranded On The Island

by Administrator on November 15th, 2005

It’s good to know that stars these days are still allowed to have serious box office flops without it putting too much of a dent in their popularity, both with viewers and studios. Following this summer’s disasterous The Island, Scarlett Johansson has shown no signs of slowing down and apparently has all the work she can handle just going through the scripts offered to her. Although she seems to suffer from a blip every now and again (like 2002’s Eight Legged Freaks), Johansson had done a wonderful job at selecting projects that would bolster her filmography, and showcase her as a serious, talented actress.

Coming up in the not too distant future, she’ll team up with Josh Hartnett and Hilary Swank for the Black Dahlia, a 1940’s cop drama that begins with the brutal murder of a woman, and soon becomes a complicated case full of corruption, secrets, and unexpected admissions. Look for Johansson, with her classic movie star looks, to be a marvel on screen in period clothes.

She’s currently filming Scoop, a movie written and directed by Woody Allen, in which she plays an American student who begins an affair with a wealthy British aristocrat. It’s not the first time that Johansson has teamed up with Allen; he also directed her this year in Match Point.

Word is that she’s recently signed on to Weinstein Co.’s The Nanny Diaries, where she will play a nanny hired to look after the toddler of a wealthy, neglectful couple.
