Sin City, Rounders Marked for TV
Those enterprising Weinstein brothers, after leaving Miramax (which they founded) following squabbles with Disney over film budgets and control, are setting up a TV production company under their entertainment umbrella company The Weinstein Co.
Thus far they seem to be attacking the small screen with gusto and have earmarked a couple of rather ambitious projects. Sin City, Frank Miller’s dark, brutal series of graphic novels, have already made a splash in theatres and the Weinsteins are obviously hoping the popularity will carry over into the pint-sized spin-off.
As well, they’ve added Rounders, a story about a reformed gambler forced to return to the table, to their list of movies to adapt into a television series. You may recall the 1998 movie starring Matt Damon and Edward Norton; now a sort of cult favourite.
It looks as though the Weinsteins are going for a bit of an edgy feel to their television line-up and may be trying to appeal to Pulp Fiction-esque fans who may be looking for something a little more brooding than standard TV fare.

Hummm…I guess with the big poker buzz right now a rounders tv show could be good, but not sure where they would go with it. I’ll have to keep my eyes open for this one since I loved the movie.

I’d love it if someone could explain the poker explosion. We’ve got celebrity poker tournaments on TV, poker in book stores, poker, poker, poker…I’d like to know where it all began.
