South Park Creators of Paramount Importance
Trey Parker and Matt Stone, otherwise known as the creative masterminds behind cheekily non-politically correct movies such as South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut, and Team America, have been scooped up by Paramount Studios in a 3 year deal. Paramount won’t need to worry about hiring additional staff for many of the pair’s movies, as Stone and Parker write, direct, produce and voice their own work. They were kind enough to bring along some of their own peers from South Park as well, making them a ready-made movie-making squad.
I couldn’t track down the monetary aspects of the deal, but apparently the plan is to have Parker and Stone heading up new projects in the writing, developing and directing roles. Said Paramount president Gail Berman: “Trey and Matt are some of the most original voices in entertainment. They are funny and brilliant, and we are extremely happy they want to continue to make movies with us at Paramount.”
The pair will soon be seen in Poultrygeist: Attack of the Chicken Zombies, where they co-star with Ron Jeremy in a movie that is purposely made to look like crap. I hope.
