Sundance Film Festival Pictures - "A Raisin in the Sun"
Diddy was in Park City to promote his new movie, "A Raisin in the Sun." It is the film adaptation of the 1959 play by Lorraine Hansberry about an African-American family that tries to find a better life in spite of their struggles with poverty and racism. Diddy starred in the Broadway production in 2004 as well.
"This a historical moment for me, my first starring role in a movie," Combs, 38, told Reuters. "Some of the audience is going to want to see did I do good or did I fall flat on my face?
Sometimes people come to a place and don’t expect to get the message. This generation, they come for entertainment … then they realize, ‘oh man, this movie is really touching. It’s making me really appreciate my family."’
The movie is set to air on the ABC television network on February 25, 2008. Diddy stars alongside, Phylicia Rashad and Audra McDonald, who were also in the 2004 Broadway production.
