Tribeca Film Festival: Cutlass by Kate Hudson

April 27, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Kate Hudson directed this short film called "Cutlass," about a woman who remembers what it’s like to want something really, really badly. The excellent cast includes Dakota Fanning, Virginia Madsen, Kurt Russell, Kristen Stewart, Chevy Chase and Sarah Roemer.
This little film is fantastic, and I think Kate Hudson has a nice directing career ahead of her. It’s only 16 minutes long, and is playing at the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival.

New Moon: Dakota Fanning confirmed as Jane

March 7, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Got a tip from TwilightMania.com that Dakota Fanning has been confirmed to play the role of Jane in "New Moon," the upcoming sequel to "Twilight" arriving in theaters Nov. 20, 2009.
There’s been a lot of speculation about who would play Jane, and opinions were varied when I reported the rumor in January.
While I think she’ll do a fine job, in some ways I wish they would have cast a lesser known actress. It just seems like Dakota Fanning is cast in just about every movie requiring a female in that age range.

Coraline Review – Too Scary for Kids?

February 23, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Movie: Coraline in 3D * Trailer * Official Site
In Theaters: Feb. 6, 2009

Runtime: 100 minutes
Directed by: Henry Selick

MPAA Rating: PG for thematic elements, scary images, some language and suggestive humor
Gecko Rating:

"Coraline" is one of those movies that’s probably a great piece of filmmaking, but it’s not really appropriate for kids. The stop-motion animation, the cinematography, and the storyline are all beautifully done. But it’s just too darn scary for little kids. Even though it’s rated PG, I don’t recommend it for kids younger than 12, which, in my mind, means it should have been rated PG-13.

Hilary Duff was recently spotted at the Mercedes Benz Fashion week, talking with "Twilight" star Peter Facinelli about how badly she wants a role in the sequel.
A source recently told Hollyscoop.com, "Hilary told Peter how bad she wants to be in … [Read More]

“You can tell that [it’s] gonna happen,” said JoBlo’s JimmyO. “It was like talking to someone that had a really cool secret but couldn’t tell anybody."

January 26, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

No word yet on whether Dakota Fanning will co-star with Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in "New Moon," the much anticipated sequel to last year’s vampire flick, "Twilight."
But the 14-year-old actress spoke with ET about the rumors that she’s been asked to meet with Summit Entertainment and director Chris Weitz about the role of Jane Volturi. "I really hope that works out," she said. "It would be interesting, really fun to be a part of. I’m a huge fan of all those actors.
