Interview with Ernie Hudson – Staying true to himself

April 21, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Ernie Hudson is one of those actors who’s been everywhere and done everything, from playing Warden Leon Glynn on HBO’s prison-fest "Oz" to playing Sifu Norris in "Dragonball: Evolution" (in theaters April 10, 2009). Seriously, take a look at his IMDB page. It’s awesome.
Hudson says he was originally in line to play Lord Piccolo in "Dragonball: Evolution," but for various reasons, it didn’t work out. Still, he had a great time with the role of Sifu Norris, for which he dyed his eyebrows and goatee white. He also appreciated working with Chow Yun Fat. "I’d seen his work and … [Read More]

Miley Cyrus takes box office - April 10-12, 2009

April 14, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Miley Cyrus and her alter-ego Hannah Montana scored big at the office this weekend, but only slightly edging out "Fast & Furious" for the top spot. I actually popped in to see the first scene in "Fast & Furious" again – it was that good.
Meanwhile, Julia Roberts and Clive Owen’s romantic romp "Duplicity" is still hanging in there at No. 10. I’m not surprised, because it’s a really cute film, like the old-time movies with Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn. Here’s the rundown from Box Office Mojo:

Hannah Montana: The Movie, $32.32M
Fast & Furious, $27.23M
Monsters vs. Aliens, $21.81M

Justin Chatwin, Emmy Rossum talk Dragonball: Evolution - VIDEO

April 8, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Just the fact that James Marsters (Spike!) is in "Dragonball: Evolution" is enough for me. Even though I haven’t followed the whole Dragonball saga, this movie looks entertaining with some good special effects. Listen as stars Justin Chatwin, Emmy Rossum and others talk about bringing Goku, Bulma, and Lord Piccolo to life. It hits theaters this Friday, April 10, 2009.

New Trailer for "Dragonball Evolution"

March 10, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

I was slammed the other day for saying I’m looking forward to "Dragonball Evolution" (and you still haven’t told me YOUR favorites for 2009, C-Dog – come on!), but I think this movie looks fantastic. Even better if you know a bit of the Japanese anime story behind it.
Created by Akira Toriyama, this movie tells the story of an alien sent to destroy Earth. But the alien has a change of heart and decides to join forces with the humans to fight the aliens and bad guys. Sounds good, doesn’t it? (Huh, C-Dog, huh?!)
Justin Chatwin, James Marsters (Spike!), Emmy … [Read More]

I talked with Ernie Hudson (one of the hardest working actors in Hollywood!) recently about his part in the upcoming “Dragonball” movie, so look for that interview on Film Gecko soon.
The movie is currently in post-production, and now it might have a new name. ComingSoon.net is reporting that 20th Century Fox may be re-naming it “Dragonball Evolution.”
