Up in the Air trailer with George Clooney – The buzz is good

October 5, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

What happens when you blend “Thank You For Smoking” and “Juno” together? you get a film that’s creating a lot of buzz on the film festival circuit, most recently at the Toronto Film Festival and the Telluride Film Festival, both of which took place in September.
“Up in the Air” stars George Clooney as Ryan Bingham, a corporate downsizing expert who loves life on the road. But just as he’s about to reach ten million frequent flyer miles – and just as he meets the frequent-traveler woman of his dreams — he’s pulled off the road and out of the …read more

The Informant! Trailer – All kinds of goofiness with Matt Damon, George Clooney and Steven Soderbergh

September 14, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

You don’t usually see Matt Damon being goofy in the sorts of crime/conspiracy movies he does. Think “The Bourne Trilogy.” Awesome movies, but not exactly a laugh a minute. But when you’ve got him as an actor, George Clooney as the executive producer, and Steven Soderbergh as the director, anything can happen.
That’s the lineup for “The Informant!,” coming to theaters Sept. 18, 2009. It looks darn funny, and I think we can all use a laugh about now.
It’s a true story based on the book by Kurt Eichenwald, about an agri-business corporation accused of price fixing. The star …read more

George Clooney: Giving up the publicity tours?

September 12, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

I would imagine that all the publicity an actor has to do would get tiring after a while. I mean, making the movie is probably just a small part of the acting business. Once you make the movie, you have to get out there and promote it.
But George Clooney says he’s all done with the publicity – although the story in The Hollywood Reporter’s Showbiz411.com blog doesn’t make it clear whether he’s just giving up Oscar promotion or movie promotion altogether. Is Clooney a big enough star that he doesn’t have to promote his movies? People will just …read more

George Clooney and goats? Jeff Bridges in a braid? Yes, in The Men Who Stare at Goats

September 11, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Oh my. I can’t decide if this movie is supposed to be funny or dramatic or real or urban legend. Maybe all of the above.
“The Men Who Stare at Goats” is based on true events as described in Jon Ronson’s 2004 book by the same name. Ewan McGregor plays a down-on-his-luck reporter who meets a special forces agent (George Clooney), who says that yes, it’s true. There’s actually a secret military unit whose sole purpose is to use paranormal powers for the greater good.
Well, I’ve listened to Art Bell’s show, “Coast to Coast” – now hosted by George Nouri – …read more

Even as a cartoon, George Clooney is still dapper

September 11, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

In “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” George Clooney lends his voice to the title character. It’s a big screen, stop-motion adaptation of the classic children’s tale by Roald Dahl.
In the movie, Mr. Fox earns the hatred of three wealthy farmers when he steals their poultry to feed his family. The farmers decide to lay in wait for him at the opening of his foxhole, which only makes him more sly – you know, like a fox.
The voice cast also includes Meryl Streep, Bill Murray, Willem Dafoe, Owen Wilson, and Jason Schwartzman. Watch the trailer here, and check out this new poster. …read more

The Fantastic Mr. Fox – Preview & Trailer

September 3, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

An adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic children’s tale, “The Fantastic Mr. Fox,” is coming to the big screen Nov. 25, 2009.
It’s a stop-motion film directed by Wes Anderson, and his first foray into animation. His other films have ventured towards the indie-quirky type, like “The Darjeeling Limited” and “The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou,” so it will be interesting to see what he does with a children’s story.
The plot centers on a clever fox (voiced by George Clooney) who must outwit three mean, dimwitted farmers who try to hurt him and his family. Ok, having grown up on …read more

George Clooney at the G8 Summit

July 14, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Dapper George Clooney was spotted at the G8 Summit in L’Aquila, Italy. The event marked the inauguration of the Nobel for Peace Hall cinema at a tent city for people displaced after the 2006 earthquake.
Look for Clooney up next in “The Men Who Stare at Goats,” in which he plays a guy who claims to be a former member of the U.S. Army’s First Earth Battalion, a unit that employs paranormal powers in their missions. Sounds like my kind of movie.

George Clooney signs autographs in South Beach

May 2, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Even a little bleary-eyed (maybe too much wine with dinner!), George Clooney doesn’t hesitate to sign autographs for fans after having dinner in South Beach. Hey, the guy behind him looks even worse!

Clooney has a whole list of movies coming up, either as actor or producer (mostly producer). Currently in post-production are “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” an animated film based on a book by Roald Dahl about a group of angry farmers looking to save their chickens from a fox family; and “The Men Who Stare at Goats,” a movie about the U.S. Army’s First Earth Battalion, a unit that is …read more

"Burn After Reading" – Making Brad Pitt look dorky – VIDEO

January 6, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

I wasn’t all that crazy about "Burn After Reading." It was ok, but with the cast and filmmakers (Joel and Ethan Coen), I expected more. Still, just the cast alone – including Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and Frances McDormand – is worth seeing. Read my review here.
Here’s a bonus clip on the DVD (released Dec. 21, 2008) that tells a little about how they made Brad Pitt look dorky. No small feat, I’m sure.

George Clooney’s Ex Tells All…Ok, not all, but a lot…

November 28, 2008 by Jane Boursaw

Awww … Sarah Larson seems like such a nice girl. You have to wonder what happened between her and George Clooney, because it sounds like he broke up with her. What a cad! Access Hollywood caught up with Sarah, who talked about both her past and future.
Sarah Larson Interview, Part I:

Part II after the jump…
