Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman rehearse The Baster
April 30, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
Yes, it’s a movie about a turkey baster. Specifically, a turkey baster which Kassie (Jennifer Aniston) turns to in order to get pregnant. She’s unmarried and 40-something, and running out of time. But seven years later, it all goes either oh-so-wrong or oh-so-right when it turns out that her best friend Wally (Jason Bateman) replaced the sperm sample with his own! Directed by Josh Gordon and Will Speck (co-directors on “Blades of Glory”), on a screenplay by Allan Loeb (”21″), “The Baster” is set for a 2010 release date. Here’s a photo with the two leads rehearsing on the movie... [Read more]
State of Play Review – I love Russell Crowe
April 21, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
Movie: State of Play * Trailer * Official Site In Theaters: April 17, 2009 Runtime: 127 minutes Directed by: Kevin Macdonald MPAA Rating: PG-13 for some violence, language including sexual references, and brief drug content Gecko Rating: You know, it doesn’t really matter what the movie is. If it features Russell Crowe, I’ll go see it and probably love it. He’s such a good actor, so good that I have to remind myself that he’s playing a character and isn’t actually that person. He does that again with Cal McAffrey, the character he plays in "State of Play." Cal’s a hardcore... [Read more]
Russell Crowe and Ben Affleck in State of Play – Preview & Trailer
March 11, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
Russell Crowe is one of those actors I can watch in just about anything. In fact, I was trying to think of a performance of his I haven’t liked, and I can’t think of any. He never rests on his laurels. He always brings it. His character of Ben Wade in "3:10 to Yuma" was one of the best of 2007, and 2005’s "Cinderella Man" made me go out and buy the book – something I rarely do after seeing a movie. So I’m looking forward to "State of Play," in which Crowe stars as D.C. reporter Cal McAffrey, who ends up in the middle of a murder mystery involving some big-wig politicians... [Read more]
Aniston, Bateman to star in "The Baster"
February 5, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
Yes … "The Baster" … it’s a fertility movie that Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman have just signed to star in. The story centers on a neurotic guy (Bateman) who learns that his best friend (Aniston) wants to have a baby via artificial insemination. So, of course, he does what any great character in a romantic comedy does and replaces the donor’s semen with his own (ewww). This could be pretty funny. I like both actors, and the people working behind the scenes have also helmed "Blades of Glory" and "Little Miss Sunshine." Filming is set to start this spring. Image: Newscom; Source:... [Read more]
Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau in "Couples Therapy" - VIDEO
December 13, 2008 by Jane Boursaw
Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau teaming up for a movie? I’m on board. The pals are working together on “Couples Therapy,” in theaters next year. Written by Favreau and directed by Peter Billingsley (the kid from “A Christmas Story” and a frequent producer on their projects, including “Iron Man”), the story follows four couples vacationing on an island getaway. One of the couples is there to work on their marriage, the rest are just tagging along. “A bunch of average folks get a chance to go to an exceptional place, and they go to Bora Bora,” Vaughn told ETOnline. “It’s...
