Duplicity hits DVD, Video on Demand this week

August 24, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

I loved “Duplicity,” because it’s like a throwback to all of those great film noir flicks of the 1940’s, 50s and 60s, with the sexual tension and rat-a-tat banter between Clive Owen and Julia Roberts.
The story is all about corporate intrigue, spies and secrets, but it’s more light-hearted than you might think at first glance. Instead of missiles and terrorists, we’re dealing with something more benign, along the lines of body lotion, hair gel and pizza crust. The great Tom Wilkinson and Paul Giamatti also star in this fun caper, written and directed by Tony Gilroy.

Jennifer Garner and Ashton Kutcher film scenes for Valentine’s Day

August 19, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

You know if it’s a Garry Marshall film, it’s bound to be good. Or at least romantic and funny. And hopefully good, too. “Valentine’s Day” has a killer cast – including Taylor Lautner, Bradley Cooper, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Julia Roberts, Emma Roberts, Topher Grace, Jamie Foxx, Patrick Dempsey, Queen Latifah, and Eric Dane.
Is that everyone in Hollywood? Not quite! Don’t forget Hector Elizondo, who has a standing role in every Garry Marshall movie.
Here’s a couple of images of Jennifer Garner and Ashton Kutcher filming separate scenes for the movie at the Los Angeles International Airport. … [Read More]

Julia Roberts and James Franco on the set of Eat, Pray, Love

August 5, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Actress Julia Roberts and co-star James Franco were recently spotted filming a scene at Tompkins Park in New York for their upcoming film, “Eat, Pray, Love.”
Based on the popular memoir by Elizabeth Gilbert, the story follows a woman who realizes she’s horribly unhappy in her marriage, so she takes off on a trip around the world to figure out what she wants in life.
It’s a tale of self-discovery that takes Gilbert (Roberts) to Italy, India and Indonesia, where as the title suggests, she eats, prays and loves.
Directed by Ryan Murphy, the movie also stars Javier Bardem, … [Read More]

Julia Roberts on the set of Eat, Pray, Love

July 24, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Actress Julia Roberts is hard at work on the set of “Eat, Pray, Love,” shooting in downtown Manhattan. I finally listened to the audiobook of the Elizabeth Gilbert’s memoir, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what they do with the movie – even though it took me a few chapters to get past the whininess of the narration. That will probably make me unpopular with some.
The movie also stars Javier Bardem, and is scheduled for a 2011 release date.

Duplicity Review – Julia Roberts and Clive Owen score with sexual chemistry

March 23, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Movie: Duplicity * Trailer * Official Site
In Theaters: March 20, 2009

Runtime: 125 minutes
Directed by: Tony Gilroy

MPAA Rating: PG-13 for language and some sexual content
Gecko Rating:

I’ve been excited to see “Duplicity” since I first heard about it. Not only does it pair Julia Roberts and Clive Owen in a movie with lots of snappy banter and intrigue (they did “Closer” together in 2004), but it also teams them with Tony Gilroy.
Gilroy earned a place in my heart with films like “Michael Clayton,” which he wrote and directed, and the “Bourne” movies, for which he wrote the screenplay. He also wrote … [Read More]

Julia Roberts and Clive Owen are in theaters today in "Duplicity," a spy thriller that’s part romance, part action, and pure chemistry. I’ll check it out and report back with a review later on. Until then, check out the stars talking up the movie at the premiere. Julia Roberts looks fantastic, and I’m so happy to see her back on the big screen.
