Simon Baker in for The Killer Inside Me
May 11, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Fans of “The Mentalist” commence rejoicing! Simon Baker, star of the CBS hit, has been cast as an attorney in “The Killer Inside Me,” an adaptation of the Jim Thompson noir classic.
It’s the story of a West Texas sheriff (Casey Affleck) as he morphs from a boring small-town cop into a ruthless, sociopathic murderer. And for the icing on this casting-coup cake, Jessica Alba plays a prostitute and Kate Hudson plays the sheriff’s schoolteacher girlfriend. Baker plays an attorney investigating the murders.
Hmmm, this actually sounds like something semi-original – which is always welcome in this world of … [Read More]
Jog with Kate Hudson in Bride Wars
April 29, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
New on DVD this week is “Bride Wars,” a friendship comedy starring Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway as two friends who end up scheduling their weddings on the same day. For some unknown reason, it all goes sour and their friendship implodes.
While “Bride Wars” isn’t one of my favorite movies this year (read my review here), it’s fun to see these two gals on screen together, and the movie is a lighthearted look at friends and weddings and how wacky things can get. Check out this clip of Kate Hudson jogging – or rather, not jogging – in the … [Read More]
Tribeca Film Festival: Cutlass by Kate Hudson
April 27, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
Kate Hudson directed this short film called "Cutlass," about a woman who remembers what it’s like to want something really, really badly. The excellent cast includes Dakota Fanning, Virginia Madsen, Kurt Russell, Kristen Stewart, Chevy Chase and Sarah Roemer.
This little film is fantastic, and I think Kate Hudson has a nice directing career ahead of her. It’s only 16 minutes long, and is playing at the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival.
Kate Hudson turns 30, parties without Owen Wilson
April 20, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
Can Kate Hudson be 30 already? Man, I’m feeling old, considering that I remember when her mom Goldie Hawn was on Laugh-In.
Kate partied at Goldie and Kurt Russell’s house, but Owen Wilson was nowhere in site. Maybe they’re “off-again”? Justin Timberlake was there (sans Jessica Biel), and Matthew McConaughey showed up solo, too. Up next for Hudson: “Big Eyes” and “Nine.”
Kate Hudson and Owen Wilson Back Together? – VIDEO
February 9, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
Kate Hudson and Owen Wilson are so cute together, and now it looks like they might be back together. Or maybe they’re just friends hanging out, who knows? CelebTV’s got the scoop … or not!
"Bride Wars" - Review
January 13, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
Movie: “Bride Wars” * Official Site
In Theaters: Jan. 9, 2009
Runtime: 98 minutes
Directed by: Gary Winick
MPAA Rating: PG for suggestive content, language and some rude behavior
Gecko Rating:
“Bride Wars” is a diversion from the heavier movies in theaters right now. You won’t find Clint Eastwood’s crotchety old guy in “Gran Torino” or the emotional drain of “Marley & Me.” Ok, there ARE some downer aspects to “Bride Wars,” but it’s mostly a goofy chick-flick.
It tells the story of Liv (Kate Hudson) and Emma (Anne Hathaway), who’ve been best friends since they were kids and saw a wedding in progress at the … [Read More]
"Bride Wars" – Preview & Trailer
January 4, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
"Bride Wars" hits theaters this Friday, Jan. 9, 2009. It stars Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway as best friends who become bitter rivals when their weddings end up scheduled on the same day. Talk about Bridezillas! Still, I’m ready for a light-hearted movie, so I really hope this one delivers. Plus, it’s rated PG for suggestive content, language and some rude behavior, so for a bride movie, that doesn’t sound too objectionable. Visit the official "Bride Wars" site, and check out the trailer:
