I know that Charlize Theron has been working steadily since, well, since she did “Children of the Corn III” back in 1995. Yes, she had an uncredited part in that stellar film. But the point I’m making is, I haven’t seen her in that many films, mainly because she does the type of films that are critical successes, but not necessarily movies people want to see. I’m talking about films like “Monster,” “In the Valley of Elah,” and “Sleepwalking.”

Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger at The Informers Premiere

Mickey Rourke’s comeback is full steam ahead, with the Hollywood premiere of “The Informers,” an ensemble film about a group of people in L.A. circa 1983. The movie also stars Kim Basinger, Billy Bob Thornton, Winona Ryder, Amber Heard, and Chris Isaak. It sounds a little like 2004’s “Crash” – you know, lots of intersecting stories.
And don’t forget that Rourke and Basinger starred in the erotic “9 1/2 Weeks” in 1986, so it was probably a little weird for them being back together on a movie.

Film Gecko Five: Best Mickey Rourke Movies

I loved “The Wrestler,” and it made me think back to my favorite Mickey Rourke movies. Here’s my top five below. See if you agree and if not, tell me your favorites in the comments section.
