Open Casting Call – The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

June 12, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Attention, anyone looking to play Seth or Leah in "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse"!

There’s an open casting call listed for these two characters at EclipseOpenCasting.com. Thanks to Nieko in Film Gecko’s "New Moon Casting News & Rumors" thread for the heads up!

From the Open Casting site:

Seth Clearwater: Seth is a Quileute Indian and the youngest member of the La Push wolf pack. He is a tall, gangly limbed boy with a huge, happy grin, the son of Harry and Sue Clearwater and the younger brother of Leah. Seth idolizes Jacob, and is always eager to please. NOTE: This is an excellent opportunity for Native American and First Nations actors. Seeking age 14-19 to play age 15.

Leah Clearwater: Leah is a Quileute Indian and the only female member of the La Push wolf pack. She is tall and slender with beautiful skin and short cropped black hair. She would be considered gorgeous if not for the perpetual scowl she carries due to a broken heart and her anger issues. She is the daughter of Harry and Sue Clearwater and the protective older sister of Seth. NOTE: This is an excellent opportunity for Native American and First Nations actors. Seeking age 18-25 to play 19.

Auditions are due by June 30, 2009. Again, visit the Eclipse Open Casting site for more info and to submit your audition.

Good luck, everyone! First dibs on interviewing the lucky actors who make it!

New Moon – First Trailer!

June 3, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Summit Entertainment has released the first trailer for “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” and it looks explosive and heartwrenching and wild and everything else you can think of. They’re certainly ramping up the CG effects with the wolf pack.

The second movie in the “Twilight” franchise hits theaters Nov. 20, 2009, and continues the story of Bella Swan, Edward Cullen, Jacob Black and all the rest. What do you think of the trailer? Thanks to NewMoonMovie.org for the trailer! (This is the one that aired during the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday.)

Three new stills from "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" are online, and I’ve got them below! The movie hits theaters on Nov. 20, 2009, and continues the story of Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart), Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), and Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner). 3 New Images of New Moon Released

May 25, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Three new images of "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" have been released exclusively to EW.com. The pics show:

  • Newly 18-year-old Bella after being thrown against a table by her love, Edward.
  • The mysterious vampire Laurent (Edi Gathegi) telling Bella not to be fearful of death. "’He was bad in ‘Twilight,’ but still had some compassion," he says. "Let’s just say he’s not conflicted anymore.”
  • Bella and Edward about to kiss. "Rob was the first guy to say to me, ‘You know, you don’t really need to have too much of me in this film,’" notes director Chris Weitz. "I don’t want him too present, so his apparition will be a subtle, flitting effect — clearly a reflection of Bella’s will and desire to see him.”

Check out the new images here (I’ll post them as soon as they’re available). What do you think?

First Look - The Twilight Saga: New Moon

May 19, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Here’s a first look at the new teaser poster from "New Moon" (known officially as "The Twilight Saga: New Moon.") Cool to finally see an image from the movie I’ve been blogging about for months! I love the dark, hazy background and, of course, Bella and Jacob, with Edward sort of on the outside looking in.

This second installment of the series, based on Stephenie Meyer’s popular books, finds Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) completely devastated by the abrupt departure of her vampire love, Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson).

To fill the void, she turns to Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner), who draws her into his world of werewolves. Bella finds her loyalties tested, as werewolves are long-standing enemies of the vampires.

"The Twilight Saga: New Moon" hits theaters Nov. 20, 2009. Like the poster? Tell me your thoughts in the comments below.

Tribeca Film Festival: Cutlass by Kate Hudson

April 27, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Kate Hudson directed this short film called "Cutlass," about a woman who remembers what it’s like to want something really, really badly. The excellent cast includes Dakota Fanning, Virginia Madsen, Kurt Russell, Kristen Stewart, Chevy Chase and Sarah Roemer.

This little film is fantastic, and I think Kate Hudson has a nice directing career ahead of her. It’s only 16 minutes long, and is playing at the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival.

David Slade to direct Eclipse

April 22, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Most people probably haven’t heard of David Slade, but he’s landed the coveted job of directing "Eclipse," the third movie in the "Twilight" saga.

Slade’s main directorial efforts include 2007’s "30 Days of Night," a horror flick about vampires in Alaska (see the connection?!), and 2005’s "Hard Candy," in which Ellen Page plays a girl who decides to go after a suspected pedophile in her own way. So he’s got those two edgy movies in his repertoire.

"Eclipse" is scheduled for a June 30, 2010 release date, and Melissa Rosenberg will pen the screenplay. She also wrote the screenplays for "Twilight" and "New Moon," adapted from Stephenie Meyer’s wildly popular books.

Meyer herself is happy with the choice of Slade. She says, "I am thrilled that David Slade will be directing ‘Eclipse.’ He’s a visionary filmmaker who has so much to offer this franchise. From the beginning, we’ve been blessed with wonderful directorial talent for the Twilight Saga, and I’m so happy that ‘Eclipse’ will be carrying on with that tradition.”

"Eclipse" centers on a string of mysterious killings in Seattle, and Bella (Kristen Stewart) is forced to choose between her love for Edward (Rob Pattinson) and her friendship with Jacob (Taylor Latuner).

Do you think David Slade is a good choice to direct "Eclipse"?

ET’s New Moon exclusive this Thursday!

April 19, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

The "New Moon" interviews, videos and buzz are starting to roll out, and I’m sure they’ll get wild by the time the vampire flick hits theaters Nov. 20, 2009.

Entertainment Tonight is great about getting exclusives, and they’ll have a doozy this Thursday, April 23.

They’ll be taking us behind the scenes on the closed Vancouver set of the "Twilight" sequel, featuring exclusive, on-set interviews with the film’s stars, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner!

Hopefully, they’ll post the videos on their site, as well as show them on TV. Until then, here’s a little blip to get us (even more) excited.

Twilight Musings: Should Breaking Dawn be made? Vote in our poll and discuss!

April 14, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

With the filming of “New Moon” in full swing in Vancouver, British Columbia – and on track for a Nov. 20, 2009 release - Twilight fans’ thoughts are turning to the next two movies.

“Eclipse,” the third movie in the “Twilight” saga, has already been confirmed by Summit Entertainment for release in North America on June 20, 2010. The fourth movie, “Breaking Dawn,” has been taken by Summit as an “optioned property,” which means that while they have the option to make the film, they haven’t given it the green light yet.

Obviously, there would be no problem with fans seeing the movie. That’s a given. But TwilightMania is speculating on a rumor that the issue would be with the character of Renesmee and the difficulty of casting a baby with a full set of teeth who grows at a rapid rate and can perform impossible feats.

I’m with TwilightMania in that this could be done well using CGI effects. Consider any of the “Harry Potter” or “Lord of the Rings” films, and you’ve got great examples of how it could work.

What say you, Film Gecko readers and Twilight fans? Could Summit create a believable film in “Breaking Dawn”? Should the movie be made, and if so, how? Vote in the poll and let your voice be heard in the comments below!
