No shocker here – Twilight scores 12 Teen Choice Awards nods
June 15, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
I guess nobody’s surprised that “Twilight” scored 12 Teen Choice Awards nominations. I love the names of their awards, too – Male Hottie, Fresh Face Male and Female… I mean, why NOT just tell it like it is, right?
The traditional surfboard trophies for the 11th annual show will be handed out Aug. 10, 2009, with the Jonas Brothers hosting the event. Excitable (and non-excitable) fans aged 13 – 19 can vote for the winners at TeenChoiceAwards.com.

White Ribbon wins at Cannes
May 24, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
I imagine I’ll be seeing some of the Cannes films at the Traverse City Film Festival in August. Until then, I’m reveling in hearing about the films and people involved in Cannes’ 12-day run, which ended tonight.
“The White Ribbon” scored the coveted Palme d’Or, the festival’s top honor. Jury president Isabelle Huppert presented Michael Haneke with the prize at the closing-night ceremony held in the Palais des Festivals.
It’s the first time a jury president has presented the award since Clint Eastwood gave the award to Quentin Tarantino for "Pulp Fiction."
Grabbing the Grand Prix award was Jacques Audiard’s … [Read More]

Oscars 2009: Backstage with the Winners - VIDEO
February 24, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
When the stars left the 2009 Oscars stage, they ventured backstage to talk to the press about how they felt about their big win. This is where you really get the scoop on what’s going down, because the stars have calmed down a bit and their breathing is back to normal (Kate Winslet!).
Hollyscoop.com caught up with the 2009 Oscar winners in the press room at the Kodak Theatre. Watch and see what Kate Winslet, Sean Penn, Penelope Cruz, Danny Boyle and Heath Ledger’s family had to say:
Is Sean Penn too vocal? And isn’t Obama against gay marriage?
February 24, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
When Sean Penn won a Best Actor Oscar for his role in "Milk," he started his acceptance speech with "You commie, homo-loving sons-a-guns…"
Sean Penn is no stranger to voicing his opinion, but is a movie awards show the place to do it? I guess if an actor is really opinionated, he or she will use that moment in front of millions to try and sway the world towards their way of thinking. Watch Penn’s acceptance speech here.
Penn’s speech also brought attention to a new Web site targeting left-wing bias in Hollywood, launched by Washington Times columnist Andrew Breitbart. … [Read More]
Oscars 2009: Sean Penn’s Acceptance Speech – VIDEO
February 24, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
Sean Penn certainly knows how to create a stir, doesn’t he? When he snagged a Best Actor Oscar for his role in "Milk," Penn took the opportunity to voice his stance on gay marriage, with some politics thrown in there, too.
I also thought it was funny when he said, "I want to make it clear that I do know how hard I make it to appreciate me." Yeah, probably not the easiest guy to like!
Watch the video of Sean Penn and see what you think. Any thoughts?
Hugh Jackman Rehearsing for the Oscars – VIDEO
February 22, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
Hugh Jackman is hosting the Oscars tonight, and the guy can do practically anything, whether it’s singing and dancing or telling jokes. I’m sure he’ll do a fine job.
Check out this clip of Hugh rehearsing for the big night. Is he in shape or what?!

I hope Mickey Rourke has one giant mantle someplace to put all the awards he’s winning. And someone should definitely create a coffee table book out of the speeches he’s giving.
The crowd at the Spirit Awards yesterday gave him a standing-o after his uncensored acceptance speech for winning the best actor award. The 56-year-old comeback kid and star of "The Wrestler" dedicated the award to his beloved Chihuahua, Loki, who passed away last week.

Robert Downey, Jr., Penelope Cruz at the Oscar Nominees Luncheon - VIDEO
February 18, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
The 81st Annual Academy Awards, a.k.a. the Oscars, is just days away! The show will air live from Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009 at 5 pm PT/8 pm ET, on ABC.
All of the nominees are having a whirlwind week, and that’s putting it mildly. Each year, they gather for the Nominees’ Luncheon, and this year’s attendees included Kate Winslet, Anne Hathaway, Robert Downey, Jr. (so darn cute, I can’t stand it) and a host of other stars. See what they had to say about all the hoopla.
