Film Gecko Giveaway - Transformers DVD
July 3, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
I’m probably more in love with “Transformers” than “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” (read my review here). They’re both rock-em sock-em movies with giant robots, but the first one had more plot and character development, in my view. Well, as much as you can have in a movie about giant robots.
THE DVD: The 2007 action flick directed by Michael Bay centers on an ancient battle between two extraterrestrial robotic clans, the heroic Autobots and evil Decepticons. But the key to who wins this battle is held by a teenage boy, Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf). Also stars Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Rachael Taylor, Jon Voight, and John Turturro.
(”Transformers” is also now available in a two-disc Blu-ray edition. As with the DVD, it includes new deleted scenes and 25 minutes of bonus features; available on June 16 from from Paramount Home Entertainment.)
THE GIVEAWAY: I have FOUR “Transformers” DVDs to give away.
HOW TO ENTER: To enter the contest, simply leave a comment on this post by midnight on Saturday, July 11, 2009. Be sure to include a valid email address. Winners will be drawn randomly. I’ll email the winner for their snail-mail address after the contest ends. Good luck!

Megan Fox stops by the Late Show with David Letterman
June 27, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
On June 25, Megan Fox stopped by the Late Show with David Letterman to promote her new film, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," which opened in theaters last week.
The stunning actress co-stars with Shia LaBeouf and a bunch of giant robots in the sequel. She’s so tiny, and is that a Marilyn Monroe tattoo on her arm? Maybe she identifies with the blonde bombshell…?
Terminator Salvation Review – Explosive Mix of Old and New
May 23, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
Movie: Terminator Salvation * Trailer * 53 Images * Official Site | In Theaters: May 21, 2009 |
Runtime: 130 minutes | Directed by: McG |
MPAA Rating: PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action, and language. | Gecko Rating: |
I love sequels that bring in lots of references from the preceding movies. “Terminator Salvation” does that, especially from the very first movie, “The Terminator.”
You remember the story: Linda Hamilton’s Sarah Connor meets Kyle Reese, who was sent back from the future to keep her safe from Arnold Schwarzenegger’s big, bad Terminator. In the process, Sarah and Kyle grow close, and she gets pregnant with John Connor, who later becomes the leader of the resistance movement against the machines and Skynet. John is also the one who sent Kyle back to protect Sarah – so that he could be born.
First Surrogates trailer online
May 21, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
I love Bruce Willis, but I’m not sure I like seeing him with hair! He’s such a sexy bald guy, and in the "Surrogates" trailer below, there are a few scenes where he’s sporting this goofy 80’s ‘do. At any rate, the movie looks both fun and terrifying (and I like THIS version of him in the photo…).
The story takes place sometime in the future, in a world where humans live in isolation and interact with each other only through surrogate robots (yikes – we’d better ditch the texting and Twitter soon, lest we end up this way). But when surrogates start getting killed, Willis, who plays a cop, has to leave his home for the first time in years to track down the murderer.
The Touchstone/Walt Disney picture hits theaters Sept. 25, 2009, and also stars Rosamund Pike, James Francis Ginty, Boris Kodjoe and Ving Rhames. What do you think of the trailer?

Terminator Salvation Videos: Moon Bloodgood, Christian Bale, and Animatronics
May 20, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
“Terminator Salvation” hits theaters Thursday, May 21, 2009 (today!). And it’s definitely one of the most anticipated movies of 2009. HitFix.com has a bunch of cool videos of interviews and behind-the-scenes stuff. I’ve included a few below. I always expect Christian Bale to haul off and hit someone. That’s bad typecasting on my part, but you’ve gotta admit, he does seem pretty intense. Are you super-psyched for this movie?

New 4-minute trailer for Terminator Salvation
May 11, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
“Terminator Salvation” opens May 21, 2009, and Warner Bros. is ramping up the promotional stuff big-time. They’ve just released this 4-minute trailer, and it looks pretty awesome. Maybe having Christian Bale force a rewrite of the script wasn’t such a bad thing after all.
Watch the trailer (thanks to FilmDrunk), and after the jump, read the official synopsis from Warner Bros.
Trailer and footage for Bruce Willis’ Surrogates
May 11, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
If you’re thinking that "Surrogates" must be about surrogate moms, maybe a funny, Amy Poehler-type movie, guess again.
It’s a sci-fi action flick starring Bruce Willis and Radha Mitchell as FBI agents investigating the murder of a college student. The catch: it’s linked to a man creating high-tech surrogates — unflawed robotic versions of people. Just think of the possibilities! Fit, handsome, remotely-controlled machines that assume your life roles, allowing you to stay comfortably in the safety of your own home.
Hmmm, doesn’t sound that wonderful to me (the concept, that is; the movie sounds ok). I recently watched an episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" with this premise. I guess it’s been done to death, but maybe Willis can breathe new life into it. The Touchstone picture hits theaters Sept. 25, 2009. Also stars Rosamund Pike, James Francis Ginty, Boris Kodjoe and Ving Rhames.
Michael Bay spills on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
April 7, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
One of the most anticipated movies of the year is “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” screaming into theaters June 24, 2009. Summer blockbuster!
We haven’t really known much about it, but director Michael Bays is starting to spill details here and there. In a recent interview with MTV, he revealed a few things:
There’s no car chase in the movie. “In some movies, it’s the same action throughout the entire movie. There’s a lot of different types of action in this one, and that makes it interesting."
