The Proposal Review – Betty White rocks.it.out.

June 23, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Movie: The Proposal * Official Site In Theaters: June 19, 2009
Runtime: 107 minutes Directed by: Anne Fletcher
MPAA Rating: PG-13 for sexual content, nudity and language Gecko Rating:

The interesting thing about “The Proposal” is that it’s produced by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, the team behind TV shows like “Fringe” and “Alias,” and movies like “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” “Star Trek,” and “Eagle Eye.” And then along comes “The Proposal,” and you’re going, that seems weird. It’s a romantic comedy amongst these other action projects.

But it works. Maybe that edginess is just what a romantic comedy needs to keep it from being mundane. Well, that and Betty White. At 87 years old, that girl rocks every line and steals every scene. I adore Betty White.

Betty White talks sluts on Chelsea Lately

June 20, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

I LOVE Betty White! I just saw “The Proposal” today, and that movie would have been just another romantic comedy without Betty. On Chelsea Lately this week, she talked sluts, boobs, and Golden Retrievers.

Ryan Reynolds talks beekeeping on David Letterman

June 17, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Ryan Reynolds has been out and about promoting his new movie, “The Proposal” (which is fabulous, by the way, but I snuck into the theater and only saw the last hour, so I’ll see the whole movie and post a review this weekend). On David Letterman the other night, Reynolds talked about being married to Scarlett Johansson and his beekeeping hobby. Yes, bees.

Sandra Bullock loves getting naked with Ryan Reynolds

June 10, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

I’m almost afraid to see “The Proposal,” because I’ll be coveting Sandra Bullock so much when she gets naked with Ryan Reynolds. In the movie, she plays a driven book publisher who blackmails her assistant, played by Reynolds, into marrying her.

In an EOnline interview, Bullock (pictured, at her David Letterman appearance this week), says the naked scene was completely scripted and choreographed.

“I give all hats off to [director] Anne Fletcher, because she’s brilliant. It became very technical. It was like a dance. It was like we were doing ‘All That Jazz.’ But if you use what’s on your body as a joke — my nakedness — and then you have another body that’s rock hard…”

No, not THAT kind of hard! Bullock was quick to qualify her statement. “Ryan is rock hard, but no no no no, nothing was hard. I’m sure it gets hard, but not that time, and it was all fine. I mean, I wouldn’t know if he had anything down there because I never looked! Anyway, when my soft face, hit his rock-hard abs, there’s going to be a cause and effect.”

I’ve loved Sandra Bullock since her “Speed” days; such a great sense of humor and down-to-earth quality about her. Read the full interview here, where Bullock talks about her butt, boobs, and the awesomeness of Betty White. “The Proposal” hits theaters June 19, 2009.

Ryan Reynolds talks Deadpool sequel

May 5, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

How does Ryan Reynolds describe his character Wade Wilson a.k.a. Deadpool in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine"? "He’s a cross between Commando and Phantom of the Opera … a man on a mission kind of thing."

That’s a kind way to describe the mutant assassin, whom we learned earlier today is getting his very own sequel (along with the official word about an "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" sequel).

A source close to Fox says the Deadpool sequel will be produced by Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel, and will be “a complete exploration of this unique character — his origins, his emergence as the Merc with the Mouth." No writers are attached yet.

Check out what Reynolds has to say about the project, which is more than five years in the making:

X-Men Origins: Wolverine Review (It’s all about Hugh Jackman’s muscles)

May 4, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Movie: X-Men Origins: Wolverine * Trailer * Official Site In Theaters: May 1, 2009
Runtime: 107 minutes Directed by: Gavin Hood
MPAA Rating: PG-13 for intense sequences of action and violence, and some partial nudity Gecko Rating:

The best thing about “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” is the ending. So even if you don’t like the earlier parts of the movie, be sure to stay til the end. Two people in front of me at the theater actually got up and walked out in the middle. I thought, gee, it’s not the best movie I’ve ever seen, but it’s not THAT bad.

The movie takes us back to the childhood of Wolverine (Hugh Jackman). We know him from the first three “X-Men” movies, but he had a wild and interesting life before he showed up in those. Even as young Jimmy Logan in 1845, he had those spiky hands, only the spikes were crude, bony-looking things then, emerging whenever Jimmy got angry. His heritage included some daddy issues, and a half-brother named Victor Creed a.k.a. Sabretooth (Liev Schreiber), complete with fangs and all.

Ryan Reynolds: I’m not gay, but I love Robert Pattinson

March 26, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Ryan Reynolds is sharing the spotlight in “Adventureland” with one “Twilight” star – Kristen Stewart. But he’s declared his love for another – Robert Pattinson

He joked to MTV: “Robert Pattinson in a word: dreamy … Look, I’m not gay — but I’m thinking about it.”

And Reynolds wouldn’t mind doing a movie with the fictional vampire either. But for now, he’ll have to be satisfied with Kristen Stewart, whom he’d love to work with again. "She’s an old, old soul," he said. "Sometimes I wonder if she’s one of the Golden Girls with a great face lift … I can’t believe how wise she is," he added.

Ryan Reynolds really IS pretty dreamy. “Adventureland” arrives in April 3, 2009. Check out the clips and trailer.
