Heath Ledger’s Family Accepts Oscar - VIDEO

February 23, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

One of my favorite moments of the 2009 Oscars was when Heath Ledger’s family accepted his award.
Ledger won Best Supporting Actor for his role as the Joker in "The Dark Knight," and his mother, father and sister gave a truly heartfelt acceptance speech on his behalf.
His father Kim Ledger said, "I have to say this is ever so humbling," thanking director Christopher Nolan for "allowing Heath the creative license to develop and explore this crazy Joker character."
Heath’s mother Sally Bell said, "Heath was such a compassionate and generous soul. We have been truly overwhelmed by the …read more

"Dark Knight" Sequel on Hold

February 13, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

var iamInit = function() {try{initIamServingHandler(234,339,607516,”http://cdn.pis.picapp.com/IamProd/Resources/Css/css2.css”)}catch(ex){}}()
"The Dark Knight" sequel is on hold, but it’s not because Christian Bale is behaving badly.
It’s because director Chris Nolan is working on a new movie, "Inception," described as a sci-fi action thriller with a psych twist.
I don’t know that we’ve even heard if Nolan is directing another Batman movie, have we? I’m sure the pressure to produce another blockbuster would be pretty high.
Until then, I’ll look forward to seeing what he does with "Inception," likely hitting theaters in summer 2010.

Christian Bale Does Damage Control on F-Bomb Tirade

February 6, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Christian Bale‘s people have apparently had a stern talk with him. The actor is apologizing for his tirade on the “Terminator Salvation” set. Listen to Bale’s 4-minute meltdown – in which he unleashes 36 f-bombs at the film’s director of photography, Shane Hurlbut – right here.
"It’s been a miserable week for me," Bale said on The Kevin & Bean Show on KROQ-FM in Los Angeles yesterday. “I was out of order, beyond belief. I acted like a punk. I regret that … It is inexcusable."
Bale adds: "Please, I am asking people, do not allow my onetime lapse …read more

Christian Bale Goes Ballistic on Set of "Terminator Salvation" – VIDEO

February 3, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Does Christian Bale need some anger management classes or what? Between assaulting his mom and sister before the European premiere of "The Dark Knight" last year and his latest shenanigans on the set of "Terminator Salvation," I’d say Bale needs to get a clue. The enraged actor had a big hissy fit after a crew member walked into his shot. Geez, dude, lighten up!
What do you think about this? Is an actor ever justified in blowing up about these situations?

Round-Up: Awards Show Winners (Danny Boyle says "Dream hard")

February 1, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

It’s that time of year – when actors and filmmakers are glammed up at awards shows every night (or so it seems). Here’s a little round-up of some recent winners:
Danny Boyle wins outstanding directorial achievement in feature film for "Slumdog Millionaire," Director’s Guild of America. It’s the runaway hit of the season, and I’m sure this little flick will score big at the Oscars, too. In his acceptance speech, Boyle said, "Dream hard."
"Kung Fu Panda" wins best animated feature, Annie Awards. In fact, it picked up ten awards, which seems surprising to me, given that one of …read more

The 66th Annual Golden Globes Awards are now history. Any hits or misses, in your view? I was shocked but happy to see Mickey Rourke win for Best Actor for "The Wrestler." I think he was, too.
And tearful Kate Winslet was charming when she gave her speech for winning Best Actress. Here’s the rundown, with the winners marked with asterisks. And I guess I’d better see "Slumdog Millionaire" before the Oscars!
Cecil B. DeMille Award

Golden Globes – Heath Ledger wins for Best Supporting Actor

January 11, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Things got off to an emotional start at the 66th Annual Golden Globes Awards when Heath Ledger won for Best Supporting Dramatic Actor for his role as The Joker in "The Dark Knight."
Maggie Gyllenhaal (pictured) noted on the red carpet that while it’s hard to talk about her friend Ledger, she feels that he’s very deserving of the award.
Presenter Demi Moore presented a brief clip of Ledger’s work in the film and afterwards, "Dark Knight" director Christopher Nolan accepted Ledger’s posthumous award, doing so with "a mixture of sadness and incredible pride."
Rather than dwelling on the gap left …read more
