Tom Cruise: The family that jogs together…

October 4, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

When not doing stunts for his new movie “Wichita” co-starring Cameron Diaz, Tom Cruise can be seen out and about jogging with wife Katie Holmes and son Connor. Here the trio goes for a run in Boston, Massachusetts earlier today, after a trip to Nike Town for new shoes. Not pictured are the bodyguards close behind.
I can’t imagine what it must be like to be under the paparazzi bubble your whole life. I guess it’d make me want to stay in shape for all the photos!

Tom Cruise doing stunts for Wichita

October 1, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Actor Tom Cruise is still doing his own stunts, and more power to him. He was spotted doing a few in Boston for his movie, “Wichita.” From the photos, you can see that he climbs to a standing position from the back seat of a fast-moving convertible. You can also see a driver and a dog in the passenger seat. Word has it that Cruise eventually ends up on the hood of Cameron Diaz’ car.
The plot sounds very mysterious. It’s an action-comedy that begins when a small-town woman (Diaz) has a chance encounter with a mysterious man (Cruise). But …read more

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes headed for Splitsville?

August 20, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Oh dear, this isn’t good. Seems like Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise have stayed fairly true to each other during their marriage, despite the whole Scientology element. But could they be headed for splitsville?
They were spotted having a very public fight on the set of Katie’s new movie in Australia, and have apparently been fighting non-stop ever since. Here’s the scoop from CelebTV.com:

Who’s your favorite vampire?

August 18, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Are we getting a vampire overload lately? Is that even possible? I mean, I’m all over anything vampire-related, but really, it’s like every other TV show and movie has a vampire in it.
Which begs the question: Who is your favorite vampire?
Me? Right now, I’d have to say Eric of “True Blood” (did you see the hot scene with him and Sookie naked in bed together last week?) or my old favorite, Spike from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” And Bill Compton (pictured) from “True Blood,” not only because he’s hot, but also because I interviewed him recently and he called …read more

Tom Cruise and J.J. Abrams team for Mission Impossible 4

June 18, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Yes, it’s true. Tom Cruise and J.J. Abrams are teaming up for a fourth “Mission: Impossible” movie for Paramount. They’re looking at a 2011 release date.
I enjoyed all of the “M:I” movies, but the first was probably my favorite. By the box office numbers: “MI:1” - $452 million; “MI:2” - $545 million; and “MI:3” - $395 million.

I’ll look forward to seeing what they do with a fourth movie. Abrams has been successful rebooting “Star Trek,” so I expect he’ll bring back “Mission: Impossible” from its low numbers on the third movie.
And interesting that so many of …read more

Inglourious Basterds – New footage shown on American Idol

April 15, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

Well, it all makes sense to me now. When I heard that Quentin Tarantino was the guest mentor on "American Idol" this week, I went, what the…? But of course, it was all designed to publicize new footage from his upcoming film "Inglourious Basterds," in theaters Aug. 21, 2009.
The clip shows some behind-the-scenes stuff, followed by a montage featuring Brad Pitt and our first look at Mike Myers in character. Pitt plays Lt. Aldo Raine, who’s in charge of eight Jewish-American soldiers tasked with invading France and killing Nazis occupying the area. I haven’t been that excited about this …read more

Cruise and Travolta to remake Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid? Dear Lord No!

April 8, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

You know, some things you shouldn’t mess with. Just the thought of Tom Cruise and John Travolta doing a remake of the classic 1969 western "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" makes me want to hurl.
But apparently, that’s the plan. Cruise even got the A-Ok from Paul Newman just a few months before the legend died of lung cancer last September. Cruise intends to produce the film through United Artists, the studio he helped to resurrect as an MGM property in 2006.
Cruise, 46, would play Sundance, the role made famous by Robert Redford, while Travolta, 55, would …read more

Brad Pitt in "Inglourious Basterds" Trailer

February 11, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

The trailer for "Inglourious Basterds" was just released, and it looks intense. At least with Quentin Tarantino on board as writer and director, it’s sure to be more intense than, I don’t know, Tom Cruise’s "Valkyrie." And much bloodier, too.
I’m not a huge fan of Brad Pitt’s acting, but let’s hope he does something besides just play himself like he usually does. He plays Lt. Aldo Raine, who’s in charge of eight Jewish-American soldiers tasked with invading France and killing Nazis occupying the area.
"The Basterds," as they’re known, have one job: screw up the German war machine. "Inglourious …read more

Tom Cruise and Denzel Washington team up for "The Matarese Circle"

Could Jason Bourne have a couple of new rivals? And wouldn’t Tom Cruise and Denzel Washington be great in a spy thriller together? Yes on all counts!
The two super-stars are set to co-star in the action-packed flick "The Matarese Circle," written by Bourne writer Robert Ludlum. David Cronenberg, who directed "Eastern Promises," has signed on as director. Great combo!
But, oh no. Tom will play a Russian spy named Vasili Taleniekov (will he even attempt to do an accent, since he did NOTHING in "Valkyrie"?), while Denzel will play American intelligence agent Brandon Scofield.

Film Gecko Five: Romantic Movie Moments

February 11, 2009 by Jane Boursaw

In honor of Valentine’s Day (this Saturday – are you prepared?!), I’ve compiled a list of top romantic movie moments. Since there’s no way I can put them all into one post, I’ll probably do another post or two. Let’s start with…
1. Dirty Dancing. "Nobody puts Baby in a corner." You tell ‘em, Johnny! And then the street-wise dancer grab’s the young girl’s hand and pulls her on-stage for "their" dance. Could there be a better ending to this nostalgic movie about young love at a 50’s-era summer resort? I think not.
2. Bridget Jones’s Diary. Daniel (Hugh …read more
