The Boys: The Sherman Brothers’ Movie – Preview & Clip
April 29, 2009 by Jane Boursaw
Even if you’re not familiar with the Sherman Brothers, I’m 110 percent sure you’ve heard their music.
Robert B. Sherman and Richard M. Sherman wrote some of the most memorable tunes in movie history, including “Chim Chim Cher-ee” and “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” from “Mary Poppins,” “I Wanna Be Like You” from “The Jungle Book,” and the most translated song ever written in the history of the world, “It’s a Small World (After All).”
“The Boys: The Sherman Brothers’ Movie” is a documentary which tells the story of the brothers, including their childhoods, marriages, early careers, and relationship with pioneer filmmaker himself, Walt Disney. It includes interviews with Julie Andrews, Dick Van Dyke, Roy Disney, Samuel Goldwyn and John Landis, among others.
The movie hits theaters in limited release May 22, 2009, and looks like a fantastic tribute to these two brothers who’ve done so much to shape movie history. Check out a few more stills from the film, and a clip below:
