"The Lone Ranger" Remake in the Works - Who’s Your Ranger?
In the “There Are No New Ideas” department, writers Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio are in final negotiations to pen a live-action adaptation of “The Lone Ranger” for Disney and producer Jerry Bruckheimer. The writing partners are best known for their work on the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films.
Let’s think about people who’d make a great Lone Ranger (because I know Jerry Bruckheimer will be reading this)… Clooney could never handle the action stuff with his bad back. Plus, I can’t see him as The Lone Ranger anyway. I know - why even mention him? I think because he’s dashing, which is how I see The Lone Ranger.
Definitely need someone who can ride a horse. Pierce Brosnan? Graham Greene? I vote for Josh Brolin (pictured, in No Country For Old Men). He’d look good in a mask.

Owned by Classic Media, The Lone Ranger started out as a 1930s radio show. It was wildly popular with audiences (because what else was there to do during the Depression), and morphed into movie serials, TV shows, comic strips, comic books, toys, novels, lunchboxes, and anything else they could make money off of.
And here’s a little history for you: The hero’s origin story begins with a group of Texas Rangers chasing down a gang of outlaws led by Butch Cavendish. The gang ambushes the Rangers and believes they killed them all. Little did they know that one survived — The Lone Ranger, found by an Indian named Tonto who nursed him back to health.
Thus was born the masked man who rode a white stallion named Silver, bringing criminals and gangs to justice everywhere. You can rest easy, now that you know that info.
