"The Princess Diaries" on HBO?
Looks like we’ll be seeing some Disney blockbuster movies on HBO in the coming years.
The network has bought 85 feature film titles from Disney-ABC Domestic Television, including…
…The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, National Treasure and The Princess Diaries; Miramax’s Finding Neverland, Sin City and the Oscar-winning Chicago; and Touchstone Pictures’ The Village and Step Up.
The films will become available to HBO beginning in 2012 for license terms between 18 and 24 months, depending on the film. This is the second big Disney package that HBO has acquired in the past six months. In October, they purchased 100 titles, including Pearl Harbor, The Sixth Sense and Pulp Fiction.
Ok, I get Pulp Fiction and Sin City. After all, HBO is known for gritty dramas. But The Princess Diaries and National Treasure? Does anyone else think the pairing of Disney and HBO is an odd one? Hmmm, maybe HBO plans to air more family-friendly films.
