WB Puts "Justice League" Movie On Hold

by Jeanne on January 17th, 2008

Warner Bros. has put the breaks on the screen adaptation of the "Justice League."  Director George Miller had chosen a cast to play the DC Comics heroes but WB let their options lapse and have put the project on hold indefinitely.  I am not really devastated because I’m afraid of how such a movie could go.  I was not a huge fan of Superman Returns (2006) nor have I been particularly fond of many of these recent superhero movies, but I digress…

Variety reported on some of the reasons behind the delay.  One problem is that they will be filming in Australia but have not received the official response needed on tax breaks.  Also, the script needs a little work which cannot be done due to the writers’ strike.

Since Warner Bros. did not exercise the cast options, they risk losing the actors to other jobs.  This surprised me because they’ve chosen people for some pretty big roles: Adam Brody was cast as The Flash and newcomers Armie Hammer Jr. and Megan Gale were selected as Batman and Wonder Woman, respectively.
