“X-Men Origins: Wolverine” has signed a few more cast members, including Dominic Monaghan, Danny Huston, Taylor Kitsch, will.i.am, and Lynn Collins, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The “X-Men” spinoff starring Hugh Jackman is set 17 years before the “X-Men” movies, and traces the beginnings of the spiky mutant superhero.
Just Jared reports that former “Lost” star Dominic Monaghan will play Barnell Bohusk, a.k.a. Beak, a bird-like mutant with super-eyesight and a somewhat limited ability to fly.
More after the jump!
Huston (pictured) will play Stryker, a military general who subjected Wolverine to the experiment that laced his bones with an unbreakable metal called adamantium. (Brian Cox played the character in “X2: X-Men United”).
Kitsch, currently starring as bad-boy Tim Riggins on NBC’s “Friday Night Lights,” will play Gambit, a Cajun thief who can manipulate kinetic energy, allowing him to do some nasty card-throwing tricks.
Will.i.am, frontman for the Black Eyed Peas, will play Wraith, a mutant with the power to make himself translucent.
Collins, who starred in “The Number 23,” will play Kayla Silverfox, Wolverine’s lover and a member of Team X, a covert ops team.
Ryan Reynolds, currently in “Definitely, Maybe,” will appear as Deadpool, a wisecracking mercenary, and Liev Schreiber has signed to play Victor Creed, a mutant with bestial superpowers also known as Sabretooth.
Production began in New Zealand this month. Filming will also take place in Australia and New Orleans for a May 1, 2009 release date.
