Zemeckis, Kenan Team for "Airman"
I’ve been a big fan of Robert Zemeckis, since I saw Romancing the Stone, which he directed. He also directed Forrest Gump and Cast Away, and wrote and directed all three Back to the Future movies.
In short, he’s a Hollywood powerhouse and has eight projects in the works, including the upcoming A Christmas Carol, starring Colin Firth, Jim Carrey and Gary Oldman. Can’t wait to see what they do with that.
Now he’s producing Airman, with Gil Kenan attached to direct. They teamed for Monster House, which received an Oscar nod last year.
More after the jump…
Based on the children’s adventure book by Artemis Fowl author Eoin Colfer, Airman is a swashbuckling story that centers on Conor Broekhart, a young man born in a hot air balloon. After his tutor and king are murdered, Broekhart spends two years in prison, then escapes and must decide whether to shun those who abandoned him or fight those who plot to overthrow the government.
I’m not familiar with the story, but it doesn’t sound very kid-friendly, does it? I’ll look forward to seeing what they do with it.
